Pastor Joel was born and raised in small towns in Central Illinois.  He first sensed a call to ministry as a teenager, in 1993 at the Church of the Nazarene's General Assembly in Indianapolis.  It is a call that has never left him.

After completing his B.A. in Christian ministry with a minor in cross-cultural ministries, Pastor Joel followed God's leading and moved to Kansas City, MO, where he earned a Master of Divinity degree with an emphasis in Missiology.  It was in Kansas City that he served in his first pastorate and met his wife-to-be, Pastor Karolyn.  They were married in January 2002. 

In addition to serving as co-pastor, Pastor Joel also serves as a hospice chaplain for Beacon of Hope Hospice in Davenport, Iowa.  He is an sports fan, loves reading, and enjoys traveling and being outdoors.
